Meta Muse Wonder Price: 40% of GPT-6, 39% More Per Task (2026)
Muse Wonder is Meta's first frontier AI model, released on October 12, 2026. For ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini users, it adds a fourth serious option. The pitch is price: 40% of GPT-6 Astra's token rate. Is that enough to switch?
What Is Muse Wonder? Meta's Frontier Model, 14 Months in the Making
It is the first top-tier model from Meta's Superintelligence Lab since the company rebuilt its AI effort in August 2025. It ships in two versions. Muse Wonder is sold through the API (the pay-per-use channel for developers). The stronger Wonder Full is limited to Muse Code subscriptions starting at $50 a month.
Muse Wonder Pricing vs. GPT-6, Claude and Gemini
Muse Wonder costs $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens. GPT-6 Astra and Claude Fable 5.1 charge $10 and $50. On the independent Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, it scores 52, one point behind the three rivals' flagship models at 53.
| Model | Index | Input/Output | Per-Task |
|---|---|---|---|
| Muse Wonder (Meta) | 52 | $4/$20 | $4.52 |
| GPT-6 Astra (OpenAI) | 53 | $10/$50 | $3.26 |
| Claude Fable 5.1 (Anthropic) | 53 | $10/$50 | $7.63 |
| Claude Opus 5.5 (Anthropic) | 58 | $4/$20 | $5.98 |
| Gemini 4 Argon (Google) | 53 | $2/$10 | $1.99 |

Why a 40% Token Price Still Costs 39% More Per Task
A cheap rate is not a cheap bill. Artificial Analysis measured what each model spends to finish an average benchmark task. Muse Wonder came in at $4.52. That is 41% below Fable 5.1 ($7.63) but 39% above GPT-6 Astra ($3.26), because models burn different amounts of tokens per task.
Is Muse Wonder Worth Switching To?
Teams on Claude Fable 5.1 have the clearest case to test it: one index point lower, 41% cheaper per task. GPT-6 Astra and Gemini 4 Argon users get no price reason to move. One exception is long coding work. On DeepSWE 1.1, Meta's model card lists Muse Wonder at 78.8 versus 74.1 for GPT-6 Astra. Muse Code plans share inputs with Meta by default.
Key Takeaways
① One point behind - Muse Wonder scores 52 on the independent index; the big three's flagships score 53.
② Rate is not cost - Tokens cost 40% of GPT-6 Astra's, but each task costs 39% more.
③ Test-drive first - Wonder Full is subscription-only, so measure your own workload before switching.
Three of the five top models now list at $4 per million input tokens. Muse Wonder shows the frontier race shifting from benchmark gaps to cost per task.
